Yesterday I took the car and went with the dog to a big walk. For about 5kms from the city is a wast empty field where we usually go out and have our big walks. I like this place because there is only grass, a few trees, and nothing more, so I can see in every direction. This is the place where I take the dog where we need to practice the “come here” part. It is easy here, because I let him free, and start walking to a direction. Than I call him. If he comes than “good doggy” if he doesn’t come, I start running away. And don’t even look back. Usually he realizes very quickly that if he doesn’t come, he will be lost.
I can “afford” to behave like this here, because there are no cars, no people, no other dogs that could cause trouble. It is interesting to see, that no matter what he founds (some hole to dig) after calling him, he pretty soon starts to follow. He knows that I am not going to turn back.
