My doberman is always hungry. He gets huge amounts of foods, mostly I cook for him, and still he is hungry. He is not thin at all, a few days ago I was telling him, that if he continues like this he will be a fat doberman not a good looking one… He just laughed and asked for more food.
When he was small, wasn’t such a good eater. One old dog owner told me, that I should give him 3 times a day, and let the food in front of him for 15 minutes. And give him good food, but don’t change the food type. Use one over and over again. I thought this is not really nice, the dog will get eventually boring, but they explained to me, that choosing the right food, will give him everything he needs to grow nicely, and changing the food will unbalance his stomach. Anyway I followed this advice, and gave him the food, waited about 15 minutes, if he finished than good, if he just pushed the bowl from here to there, I took the food and the feeding time was over.
Soon he realized, that if he not finishes, and starts playing with food, it goes away. And since that, he is a very good eater.
